This piece is inspired by a moment on the beach in Oaxaca, Mexico. I met another solo traveller who pitched up next to me. The sea was calling, I swim a lot and am always drawn to the water, so the pair of us went in to cool off. Once beyond the intense crashing waves at the shore we floated in the swell and enjoyed carefree and easy conversation and laughter letting the waves carry us until we returned to our sun loungers. We parted ways later that day with this happy memory.

This piece is inspired by a moment on the beach in Oaxaca, Mexico. I met another solo traveller who pitched up next to me. The sea was calling, I swim a lot and am always drawn to the water, so the pair of us went in to cool off. Once beyond the intense crashing waves at the shore we floated in the swell and enjoyed carefree and easy conversation and laughter letting the waves carry us until we returned to our sun loungers. We parted ways later that day with this happy memory.

Big cats are my favourite wild animals, I find them to be completely majestic. This series is inspired by the beauty of the big cats.
Leopards are solitary and stealth big cats who have beautiful black rosettes and spots. They are highly skilled climbers and the most elusive of the big cats. We have a great desire for their beautiful and familiar pattern which is found often in fashion and homewares.

This piece is part of the collection ‘Intricate Grooves’ and all the artworks were inspired by the beautiful patterns seen on my daily walks with my dog Indy. I am fascinated with fungi and tree bark and the unlimited variations that present to me as I take in the beautiful nature.
I like to create the entirely unique patterns within my paintings in a similar way, with the direction of each carving decided in the moment, influenced by my feelings, the preceding carving and, where there is colour, the patterns within the painting.

The only mini in my new blue collection - I chose a continuation of the carvings from the border into the painting for this piece, representing what people see on the outside v’s what’s happening on the inside of my mind.
There is a connection, a flow from one to the other, what I share is only a small portion of me. The bit I choose to share. Of course this is the same for everyone! On the inside things move and shift differently, my neurodivergent brain works in a way that is both amazing and, quite honestly, infuriating at times.

The inspiration for this piece, alongside ‘Wishing For More Time’ 'Wishing For More Time II', ‘The passing of Distance and Time’ and 'The Fascination of Evolution' all being checkerboard I think came to me because of my enjoyment of repetitive patterns and my love for geometric shapes. The checkerboard kept flashing up in my head, so I knew I had to get it out and into my work.
With these I wanted the checker to be fluid and have movement like water or fabric, indicating the continual flow and change over time. The more time you have, the more things evolve. I knew I wanted to contrast the painted elements with linear carvings on the plain paper sections. These reinforce the repeating over and over of checker, again coming back to that meditative thought process.
The choice of indigo and white as an alternative to the classic black and white checkerboard was to have a fun modern twist.

This piece is inspired by a moment on the beach in Oaxaca, Mexico. It was known for its excellent surf, and this time the waves were too big to swim! I made peace with enjoying the shade of my umbrella while I watched and listened to the crashing waves. They were hypnotic and I found myself in meditation as they crashed over and over. Big cats are my favourite wild animals, I find them to be completely majestic. This series is inspired by the beauty of the big cats.
Leopards are solitary and stealth big cats who have beautiful black rosettes and spots. They are highly skilled climbers and the most elusive of the big cats. We have a great desire for their beautiful and familiar pattern which is found often in fashion and homewares.

This piece is part of the collection ‘Intricate Grooves’ and all the artworks were inspired by the beautiful patterns seen on my daily walks with my dog Indy. I am fascinated with fungi and tree bark and the unlimited variations that present to me as I take in the beautiful nature.
I like to create the entirely unique patterns within my paintings in a similar way, with the direction of each carving decided in the moment, influenced by my feelings, the preceding carving and, where there is colour, the patterns within the painting.

For artworks that are sold unframed, we recommend a box frame. Mimi’s artworks are sculptural with a textured surface so it’s important that there is a clear gap between the surface of the paper and the glass in the frame.
The majority of the artworks have a beautiful deckle edge to the paper which should be enjoyed, therefore a float mount is recommended.
