Acrylic on canvas
120 × 90 × 3.8cm
This artwork was inspired by a photograph captured on my climb up Pidurangala Rock on a solo trip to Sri lanka in early 2020.
The climb started very early morning around 5am so that I could make it to the top before sunrise. A photo I took on long exposure was blurred with green as the light bounced off my head torch on the climb, incidentally creating a beautiful composition. A year later I re-visited my photos and I knew I needed to recreate the spirit of this one on canvas. It represents the luscious green mountains and jungle in this most spectacular country, as the rain falls in monsoon season to bring new life, I too had felt a sense of re-birth on this trip which allowed me to pour everything into my art journey that followed.
The painting continues around the edges of the canvas.
